A Piano Life Saver System from Dampp-Chaser Corp. keeps your piano on pitch and prevents
damage from environmental effects, allowing optimum tonal quality and keyboard control.

Piano technicians and the major piano manufacturers recommend installing the Piano Life Saver
System to protect your piano, improve keyboard control, and maintain tuning stability. The System
Humidistat keeps humidity levels consistent by activating the piano Dehumidifier during highly
humid conditions and when the environment gets too dry, the System Humidifier replaces moisture
inside the piano.

Protect your piano's investment value by having a piano climate control system installed, out of
sight, inside your piano to combat dry and highly humid conditions that can cause costly damage.
The System is truly a piano lifesaver and must be installed by a professional piano technician to
activate the warranty.
Affinity Piano Tuning
At Affinity Piano Tuning we highly recommend a climate control system
for all piano's.  We especially recommend this for piano's in New Jersey,
where the temperature changes are frequent, and for piano's located
near a door, an outside wall or a large venue.   Affinity Piano Tuning has
partnered with Dampp Chaser to bring you the best climate control
system available.  Their Piano Life Saver Systems have been proven to
double the life of a piano and to sustain a tuning for an extended period
of time.

The importance of your piano's environment

A large portion of the piano's interior working mechanisms are made of
wood.  Not only are the main components wood there are thousands of
interconnected wooden parts called the action.  As with doors and
drawers, when humidity levels are high the wood inside the piano
expands.  This causes the keys to stick and puts tension on the strings
which will ultimately stretch them. When the humidity levels are low and
the environment is dry the wood shrinks resulting in the keys rattling and
the strings becoming loose. The short term effects of this condition will
be noticeable in how responsive the keys are to your touch and how
sluggish the action is.  The long term effects will cause serious damage
to both the soundboard and the pin block, as well as rusting the strings,
all of which are typically very costly repairs.
This chart demonstrates how drastically pitch can change when your piano is
exposed to flucuations in the humidity during seasonal weather changes.
The Piano Life Saver System...

  • Stabilizes pitch and permits tunings to hold much better and
longer (the tuning will not go sharp or flat when the weather or
    room humidity changes)
  • Minimizes the expansion and contraction of action parts which
provides optimum touch and predictable keyboard control
  • Prevents rust on the strings and parts
  • minimizes felt deterioration, reducing the harsh tones that
come from flattened hammer felt in high humidity
  • minimizes glue failure throughout the piano
What is a piano life saver system
The piano life saver system is a unit that is installed out of sight in the
interior cabin of your piano.  It is essentially a combination of a
humidifier and dehumidifier designed specifically to maintain the
temperature changes inside of .   When it detects any change in the
level of humidity in the wood the system will automatically turn on to
adjust the environment.
